Last year we ran a 'lockdown' competition where we invited you to submit your artwork and show us what you were working on. We were overwhelmed with the submissions and standard of work and consequently ended up choosing six winners instead of the three planned.
This exhibition is the first of our three winners, Sharon Hendy, Peter Campbell Saunders and Molly Lambourn.
Sharon identifies as a visual storyteller who works using collage, illustration, mono print, letraset & quite literally anything else she can get her hands on to build a narrative.
The exploration of childhood fears and the fairytale influence much of Sharon's illustrative work, dark humorous imaginings brought to life through a mixture of layers and playful experimentation.
Sharon is a graduate from the London College of Printing where she developed an interest in Eastern European animation. This interest clearly permeates her work and gives it a thoughtful edge. Reading her pictures is a never ending process and one that gives pleasure and paradox in equal measure.
